Additional Information
  • An Antique Civil War Percussion Double Barrel Shotgun | Each Lockplate is finely engraved with “Moore & Co” behind the hammer along with scroll work on the lockplates and hammers  | Trigger guard is engraved with scroll work | Made by Moore and Co. | Circa 1850 | Has original furniture and ramrod | 48″ | Good Condition | Both actions work fine and the firing pins are spring loaded. The action locks up tight as new with no play at the breech. The bores are fine with only slight, scattered roughness, a lot of which will polish out. The straight grip walnut stock retains most of the original finish and is finely checkered at the wrist. It still has the original steel butt plate. The ribs are tight with no separation and there are no dents in the barrels.  W. Moore & Company flourished from 1853 to 1895 at 43 Old Bond Street, London. The partnership between William Moore and William Grey produced many Best Quality London guns. Since Swivel breech or “wender” rifles were not popular in England, many were sold in the United States.
