  • Oil Painting attributed to Frank Duveneck or follower of Duveneck (October 9, 1848 – January 3, 1919).  Size with Frame: 34.5 x 29.5 inches.  Framed with Brass Plate with “Frank Duveneck, 1848 – 1919”.  Duveneck was an American figure and portrait painter. Duveneck’s work can be seen at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City, the National Gallery of Art in Washington, DC, the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, the Cincinnati Art Museum, the Richmond Art Museum,the Kenton County Library in Covington, Ky, and the Cathedral Basilica of the Assumption, also in Covington and the Frances Lehman Loeb Art Center in Poughkeepsie, NY. A portrait, Young Man with Tousled Hair (the Street Urchin), now in the Smithsonian American Art Museum, was previously in the collection of Kurt Vonnegut.

    Duveneck’s paintings have been sold at numerous major auction houses including Sotheby’s (NY & London), Christie’s (NY & London), Heritage (Dallas), Freeman (Philadelphia), Bonhams (NY), and Skinner (Boston). Duveneck’s paintings have sold for as high as $42,500 over the past few years (Sotheby’s, New York NY).
