U.S. Model 1884 Springfield “Trapdoor” Cadet Rifle

This is a U.S. Springfield Model 1884 Trapdoor Cadet Rifle, 45 caliber, serial number 43980, with long range rear sight and iron sight. Barrel is stamped VP with a symbol of an eagle head. Right side is stamped U.S. SPRINGFIELD with an image of an eagle. Breech is stamped U.S. MODEL 1884. Butt plate stamped US with 214 incised in stock above. Barrel length: 29.5″, Overall length: 49″.
