  • Original Antique U.S. Leather McKeever Cartridge Box M1874 (Model 1874) .45-70 3rd Pattern | Embossed with “US” on front cover | Closing Strap also is stamped “Waterveilt Arsenal” (New York) |  Box is held closed with a brass clasp & finial | It contains two rows of ten canvas loops for twenty .45-70 caliber cartridges, and opens by folding down on a brass hinge | The McKeever Cartridge Box was used from the Indian Wars through the Spanish American War, with the 3rd pattern McKeever cartridge box being adopted as regulation garrison equipment in 1879 | Item is in very good condition – All leather including the front cover latch and belt loops are excellent. Inner cloth cartridge loops are excellent as is all the stitching on both the leather and cloth | Measures  6 1/2″ x 4″ when closed | This is an authentic Cartridge Box and NOT a copy or reproduction.
