Very Nice Pre-Colombian Pottery Head Artifact | Originated: Mexico, Veracruz, Huastec | ca. 400 to 800 AD | An impressive pottery head from a rather large figure with slanted narrow coffee-bean shaped eyes, pursed applied lips, nicely modeled ears, and a prominent bifurcated cap-like headdress. Note, the right ear shows a perforation from which ornaments were once suspended and a coil section upon the neck suggests that she also wore a necklace. The right eye, lips, and chin are embellished with black slip |Nice manganese deposits across the surface | Size: 4.5″ W x 6″ H (11.4 cm x 15.2 cm)
